WHY NLIT

No to Herd Mentality

Ever happened to you, you followed your friend’s food choices or your favorite influencers fitness routine without questioning it? An apt example of Herd Mentality! We’d like to believe that the choices we make are based on our own individual thinking. However, the reality is that's not always the case. In a classic experiment, psychologist Solomon Ash found that 75% of people put in groups would deliberately select wrong answers in order to confirm the group compared to only 1% when they were alone. The experiment concluded that people conform for 2 main reasons: 1) They want to fit in with the group (normative influence). 2) They believe the group is more informed than they are (informational influence). Remarkably, research shows that it takes only 5% to influence a crowd’s direction & the other 95% follow.

Shunya to Ekaay

Shunya which refers to voidness / void of something, similarly Ekaay means completeness! Life often circulates between these two. A balance is always important in anything to ensure a road to a good happy/healthy/ content life. People are stuck in a labyrinth of years of unhealthy lifestyle practices, we strive to directly jump to extreme fitness / restrictive diet, this often hampers our mental health & an effect of burnout wherein we return to Shunya.

180° over 360°

Is there something to be gained from a complete full circle turn in our lives? How often in life have you needed to do a 180-degree turn? How often have you had to make an intentional decision to stop the path you are currently traveling on, turn around in the exact opposite direction and follow an entirely different path? A 360-degree turn takes us to exactly where we started! This makes absolutely no sense. Same applies to Nutrition and Health, we have been believing the generational old belief that “Unhealthy = Tasty” while “Healthy = Boring, Costly, Tedious”. Let's challenge this and take it in the opposite direction. A much needed Paradigm Shift.

Simplify Life

We usually think that by choosing to inculcate the right lifestyle and mindful eating habits, we will make our life difficult, but in reality we have complicated our lives by ignoring our health, and overpressuring ourselves with more than “full plate” responsibilities! If you take baby steps and incorporate mindful eating, critical thinking, you will simplify your life by fueling your body and not fooling your body. This will lead to increased productivity, energy, clearer mind and a happy mind-body-soul connection! Paving a way to a sustainable and a simpler life less of health issues and complications!

Become A Leader

Becoming critically aware, mindful about what we eat and how it affects us is the first step to imbibing leadership qualities! Taking control of your body and not just blindly following someone/something will reflect in your professional life too with individualism, analytical mind and a disciplined mind. Often we find easy resort to google for our health problems and we start following it without knowing if it is for us or not, here we do not respect our individuality and think the standard solutions will help us too.

Freedom of Food Choice

Often, the word “Health, Diet” puts a wet blanket on our mood, it’s a generational old conditioning! For me, Right Lifestyle and Mindful Habits are two keywords I adhere to! I do not believe in the concept of eliminating anything from our daily routine! Which means if I like a cake, I will have it, but this time with mindfulness and portion size control as the mantra! I believe, if my tastebuds or cravings are satisfied, I should stop! This mantra has given me the freedom of food choice, I do not have to eliminate anything from my diet! Eliminating anything from our lifestyle unless it is harmful will act as a deterrent to a sustainable life!
