Health and nutrition support

We have a friend to share our emotions, a friend for academic support, a friend/advisor who can guide us with financial planning, but with whom do you share your health/body and food related concerns or get guidance if you need?

Do you know why home cooked food gets spoiled faster than the processed one?

Because pests get attracted to nutrient rich food, and home cooked food is natural, on the other hand ultra processed food is stripped off nutrients by adding additives, sugars, fats, heavy oils.If even pests do not want to consume highly processed food, how good it will be for us?

Doctor gives us medicine we do not even understand the prescription, we get the medicine and have it, had it been prescribed for a lifetime will we not make an attempt to know it?

Specific time for eating junk food

Have you noticed u start off ur day with a quality breakfast, maybe even lunch is good, everything is going fine till the time its evening u feel little hungry, you leave your workplace and on your way home u see this fast food chain/vada pav stall/store packed with chips, cookies, chocolates U think u r hungry enough to have something light but not as much to have proper food, so u munch on something like this?

Just close your eyes, imagine yourself, visualize  yourself after 20-30 years.

Do you think you will be better or worse? Will it be an upgrade or a degrade to your mental health and physical health !

For most of us the answer is actually a degrade. This is the condition currently in India with most of the population! In this fast life, we have put our health on a standby. We are so excited about planning our retirement, about finding the right partner, about our financial investments, that we forget, the only thing helping us do this is our body and mind, it’s the CPU of our life. We are so busy in tackling life challenges that we de-prioritise our health till the point health itself presents as a challenge and what do we feel then, the regret that we should have listened to our body when it was screaming signs!

Healthy living is boring?

Right now you are young, you have gained maybe 5kgs, if you continue this for a few more years it would be 10kgs suppose, which is easier to lose, when are your energy levels high? When can you actually experiment with different things you like and choose for ur health.? When you become 50 and u would have gained 20 kgs extra with other health complications with less energy, no time to try out different things for health! Did you know India had a literacy rate of mere 18% in 1951 to 75% in 2018, India has come a long way in establishing a well-educated nation. But shockingly, basic Nutrition literacy is still absent in schools and in college curriculum. How to interpret food labels, inculcate good dietary behavior, don’t you think these are equally important as the other core values and principles we learn!. Why schools don’t bring the behavioral change, because if we are not taught about all this in our most crucial habit forming years, how do we expect to inculcate these effortlessly later in life!

Family culture of Health

We live in a society where an overweight baby is celebrated And a leaner kid is mocked.’Kitna patla ho gaya he, kuch khilate nahi ho kya isse’! Rewards appear in the form of poison! If you complete your homework you will get candy.Bdays are a collective sugar rush day. I don’t know if it’s to give blessings to the child or to make his/her life difficult. Parents are the ones who expose the kids to sugary treats and they are the ones who later complain of the same.My kids do not like vegetables, but how much effort has the parent taken in making the kid understand its importance, or tried out different PnC so that the kid enjoys it, I have seen parents pressuring their kids to eat the desired food, this in turn creates more dislike and their brain perceives it as an unlikeable food to be eaten forcefully.

Why do restaurants prefer low light settings?

Turning down the lights: When we lower the lighting, we’re more relaxed, which usually increases satisfaction in general with your overall experience,” Dim light doesn’t just encourage us to eat more—it also affects what we choose to eat. ‘Health’, ’Diet’- these words have the power to put us in a bad mood, don't they?

Let’s change our approach and call it Mindful Habits! It’s not switching to green salads, or boiled food but adopting small small changes like finding a little less unhealthy option for unhealthiest option! It’s knowing you love coffee and want to have it 5 times a day, filling your cup 5 times a day but not having the whole cup in every sitting. This is called Mindful, u r assessing what u r accessing your body to,instead of working out or jumping to extreme, let’s start with listening to music for 10 seconds! It’s knowing that you love cakes, but eating only what is needed that satisfies your taste bud, u do not have to eat it whole! If u have a piece u can enjoy it for 4 decades, but a whole cake maybe only 3 decades! Think !!
