Is six-pack abs aesthetics worth the hard work?

As we have seen in the previous blog, Fat is an essential macronutrient and plays an importantt role in many vital body functions like regulating hormones, immune system functioning, synthesizing fat soluble vitamins, etc.

Thus, Fat is really an essential macronutrient and itโ€™s important to be consumed as per the desired RDA for smooth functioning of the body!

Now let us try to understand the difference between fit and healthy.

Fit and healthy are considered as synonyms and people usually use them interchangeably, but in reality I would say both are very different from each other.

WHO defines health as a state of social, physical and mental wellbeing. While fitness refers to the set of attributes one gets which improves their ability to perform physical activities.

So, someone who has a really good physique and a toned body but is suffering from anxiety, depression or any other form of health issue can be said fit but not healthy.

When we talk about a bodybuilder who works hard and achieve six-pack abs! Damn, that is impressive and a lot of hard work right ๐Ÿ˜‰

TO done a six-ack abs, its essential to reduce the bodyfat to a specific body percentage.

For men it is 12%, while for women it is 18%. But is it recommended to have such a low body fat, well the answer is a clear NO!

A low body fat can seriously impair some of the functions like cushioning of organs, temperature regulation, maintaining hormonal levels, and the production of enzymes. Women naturally have more body fat and it is essential for supporting fetal development, and low-fat diet can disrupt their menstrual cycles as well.

Some low-calorie diet also compromise on micronutrients and this might lead to deficiencies.

Some of the problems with reduced body fat can be

  • Reduced cushioning around the joints and organs prone ot injury
  • Weaker immune system
  • Hormone imbalance
  • Increased fatigue, tiredness and mood swings

So, six-pack abs is not the right choice and one can look to build a more muscular body than chasing the six-pack abs aesthetics.

So, someone who has lean muscles and good amount of body fat is healthier than the one who has chiselled body with six-pack abs.
